1. What do I wear to gymnastics class?
In the gym it is recommended that girls wear a one-piece leotard. Fitted shorts or footless tights are accepted. Boys should wear a t-shirt and fitted shorts or sweat pants. Zippers, buckles, skirted leotards or buttons on the students’ clothing should be avoided. Long hair needs to be secured back out of the student’s face. No jewelry while in class (except for studded earrings). No shoes or socks in the gym. All clothing must be appropriate for children (appropriate referring to styles, slogans and graphics).
2. What do I wear for classes in the dance studio?
In the dance studio, it is recommended that students of all ages wear comfortable clothing suited to their class type. Only clean dance shoes are allowed on the floor. NO street shoes. Please do not wear any perfume or cologne as some students are sensitive to smells.
3. Which classes can I take with the all-inclusive monthly pass?
Any class that is a drop-in class is eligible for the monthly pass. Most adult classes are drop-in status including Bellydance, YogaDance, African Dance, NIA, Open Gymnastics and all adult Yoga classes.
4. Do I have to be experienced in gymnastics to take the adult gymnastics class?
No. The adult gymnastics class will have at least two coaches so the group can be divided into appropriate levels. We will work strength and conditioning as well as tumbling and aerial skills.
5. Can I sign up for the whole year instead of just one session?
Yes. You will receive a 5% discount when signing up for 3 of 3 sessions. Your tuition must be paid in full by week 3 of Session I. You will receive a free leotard or t-shirt if paid in full by week 3 of Session I.
6. What benefits do I get with the membership fee?
Our membership fees help us offset our insurance and other overhead costs. As a member, you will receive discounts on drop-in classes, open gyms and special events. You will also have access to our facility's wireless internet connection.
7. Do you offer any trial classes?
Yes. If you are interested in signing up for any of our sessions, you may take a trial class. All drop-in studio classes can be taken for the first time for just $5!
8. Can my son and daughter take the same gymnastics class?
We have a great variety of classes that are appropriate for all ages, boys and girls. We have a large staff so we are able to accommodate a number of children of various ages and abilities in the gym at the same time. Any class that says “rec”, “recreation”, or “level 2 recreation” is appropriate for girls and boys. All of our pre-school classes are co-ed as well!
9. What is the aerial awareness class?
This class is designed for snowboarders and skiers who want to work on core strength, balance and aerial skills that will help them become better athletes on the mountain.
10. Is the $50 deposit an additional fee?
No. This fee holds your spot in class. Half of the tuition (minus the deposit) is due by the 1st day of class. The remaining 1/2 of tuition is due by the 5th week of the session. A $15 late fee will be applied to all past-due accounts. Balances need to be paid in full for students to continue to participate in class.
11. What are the benefits of gymnastics for my child?
Self-confidence, body awareness, social interaction, work ethic and increases in strength, coordination and flexibility are all benefits of the programs offered at Cobra.
12. Do you have a recital or show?
We do not have an established dance recital. Performances at local shows or Friday Night Live will be booked annually. Our annual Cobra show is in April and includes the entire Cobra Community.
13. Do I need to buy costumes for the dance classes?
On occasion costumes will be necessary. This are for performance classes only. Significant notice will be given before a purchase is required.
14. What is the difference between open gym and a session of gymnastics?
Open gyms are supervised and organized with warm-up games and stations. The children have choices of stations and/or events. They can also choose skills to work on. Pre-school open gyms will also include art and reading time. Open gyms can be taken individually, however a program that consists of a weekly class with supplemental open gym time will be the most valuable to your child as an athlete.
Weekly classes are designed to teach progressive and safe gymnastics to the children. If you want your child to build with skill progression and become a more experienced athlete, a 9-week session is encouraged.
15. Do I get a family discount if I have more than one child?
Yes, a 5% discount will be taken from the 2nd, 3rd children (and so on) if you have more than one child registering for a session. No double discounts are given.
16. Do I get a discount if my child takes more than one class per week?
Yes, we offer 30% off the second class of the week.
